Nicole S. on Amazon wrote:I had the opportunity to beta read this manuscript prior to publication, and am so happy to see it listed on Amazon! Overall, it is a fantastic work of fiction that combines realistic sci-fi elements with true history. Tim does a wonderful job incorporating palpable war and scientific scenes and sticking to a true historical timeline, which makes the work feel believable. He additionally does a fabulous job providing tangible backstories and characteristics for all characters. Though discussing a dark Nazi world, Tim manages to show the human sides of characters as well, depicting how they change and develop over the course of the text. This is a great read for anyone interested in history, sci-fi, and/or fiction!
Mr Alastair J Sherriffs on Amazon wrote:As the title indicates, this sy-fi/fantasy novel is set in the aftermath of WWII. An aftermath where Nazis were able to create super soldiers.
The story that follows reminds me of an almost Watchmen-esque alternate history. Not only did I find the concept fascinating, but the story is very character-driven, and I found myself desperately wanting to know what was going to happen to the young men.
I definitely strongly recommend!
Hikes in Rain on Goodreads wrote:I motored through this book in one sitting and really enjoyed it. The pace was fast and the action scenes and twists were plentiful. Some parts are pretty gruesome (not gratuitously so).
Looking forward to the next part of the story.
I won this book in a Goodreads Giveaway, for which I am very grateful. The following is my unbiased and unsolicited review of the book.
One of the Nazi “conspiracy theories” is the attempt at creating Aryan Super Soldiers. This book, or series, is an expansion on the story. And it’s an excellent one. Doctor Krautkramer develops a serum, which when injected into young boys and energized by gamma rays, has a low probability of creating a “superman”. It takes three attempts to get to the ultimate superbeing. Only one in a hundred boys survive each attempt, and by the end of WWII, only one third stage super solder is made.
At the end of the war, the “good” doctor and his creation are taken to the States, and the project begins again. Three more super soldiers are created, and their influence on history is relayed to the reader. It’s pretty intense.
One of the creations is super-good; the other is super-evil. The other two turn out to be, well, cannon fodder. They’re killed off much easier that one might expect of super beings. Ultimately, there is a good vs. evil confrontation. The sole remaining super soldier, who may well be immortal and unkillable, is marooned on Mars, being the only human who can withstand the conditions there.
The story, writing, and world building in this story is exceptional. One of the best I’ve read in a long time. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and I now have the second book in my queue. I look forward to reading it!
