I have started writing Golden Blood – a vampire story. This story has gone through dozens of iterations in my mind, with the protagonist going from a Spanish conquistador to a French calvary officer at Waterloo to a prostitute living in the later 1800s in Paris.
I finally decided on a Belgian farmer’s wife – and I think it works. The antagonist is going to be a real scumbag – I just love writing real scumbag villains. The story will be set over multiple times and locations – with the majority of the action taking place in Santa Monica, California.
I think the story will be about 55k words, and I already have 10k down. I think I will have the first draft finished toward the end of February, and then I can start the joyous process of editing, revising, removing, adding etc. etc., etc.
Golden Blood should be ready to publish some time next year, and below is an idea I had for the cover art.
