September Writing Update

Here in Toronto, the summer continues to be lovely, sunny, and warm, and I am getting lots of cycle rides in before the harshness of winter bites. I am back from my summer vacation, and I am busy putting the finishing touches on Age of Magic before it is published next month.

I have really enjoyed the editing process for this story, and over the last few weeks, I have been decluttering the unnecessary, removing stacked adjectives, and depurpling the prose, and I think the story is in a pretty good place.

My son is having a read-through at the moment to find any glaring issues I may have missed, and I think after that, this one is just about done!

I was supposed to take a break from writing over the summer, but somehow I managed to write a novella when I was in London. It is a sci-fi story about the mistress of a powerful military police commander, who is drawn into a dangerous world of military espionage.

The story, titled The Mistress, is set on Planet B, a former penal colony in the Centauri Proxima system, and is a retro-futuristic / dystopian view of existence under corporate control.

I am very pleased with the rough first draft, and will park the story and have another look at it next year.

Also, I am planning on narrating Age of Magic into an audiobook, and I am working on my reading voice. I will start this work in October, I think.

Age of Magic is set to be published on October 20th and will be available for download here. I will leave you with a few photos from London. Enjoy
