I didn’t write an April or May update, as there wasn’t much to report. June is different, and I have a couple of new things to share.
The first is that the audiobook version of Age of Magic is available on YouTube (for free!). The entire story can be listened to here.
The second bit of news is that I am writing again. I wrote a story titled “Scorpius” a while ago, the first part of the “Sphinx’s Tear Chronicles” series. I wrote the story as a fictional memoir of the titular character, Scorpius.
My dad and a reader I trust read the story, and their response came back definitely on the cooler side of lukewarm. So I dumped the memoir style and have started rewriting it in my usual close third-person perspective (inside one character’s head), and I am pleased with how it is coming together.
I have 40k words down, and I think that the story will probably come in at around 80k to 90k words, and I hope to have it completed by August.
Looking at my publication schedule, here are the next works and when they will (probably) be available…
October 2026 — The Sphinx’s Tear (sequel to Age of Magic)
February 2027 — Terra (sequel to The Mistress)
October 2027 — Scorpius (prequel to Age of Magic)
February 2028 — Destiny Jones (Western/Appalachian/Southern Gothic/Weird West)
Once I have finished writing Scorpius, I will take a bit of time off, then start work on a new story based on the legend of King Solomon’s ring.
I also have to write the fourth (and perhaps final) story in the Nathan Blake Chronicles, the third (and definitely final) story in the Mr Amazing trilogy, and the final instalment of what will become The Mistress trilogy.
Also, I think over the winter of 2026/2027, I will work on the audiobook version of The Sphinx’s Tear, which I will release in 2027 (at some point).
Well, that’s it for June. I am getting lots of cycling in, and I am looking forward to the World Cup (Come on England! (and Canada!)) and going fishing in August.
Have fun!
